I organised a trip for Bournemouth Councillors to visit the Trussell Trust's Bournemouth Foodbank in Charminster last week.
We were delighted to meet those who manage and volunteer the Foodbank. They do a wonderful job of helping those in our community who come to them for three days emergency food and support, for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income.
Manager Joe Beaven said: "It was fantastic to welcome Councillors Nick Rose, Rae Stollard, Pat Oakley and Stephen Bartlett to the Bournemouth Foodbank on Wednesday morning."
"Our volunteers really enjoyed meeting the Councillors, and it was a chance for them to share their stories. Last year, Cllr Pat Oakley helped organise the funding for our van, so seeing him sit in the cab for the first time was very rewarding for all of us!"
I am pleased to say that my fellow Ward Councillors and I have donated ~£700 from our 2015/16 Local Improvement Fund to the Bournemouth Foodbank, to help them in their work.
